Cheers! La Paloma a Summer Cocktail Recipe
LET’S FILL OUR GLASSES AND DRINK TO THE SUMMER SEASON
The hottest drink of the summer is the La Paloma, a tequila drink that is a cousin to the margarita. La Paloma, unlike the margarita, is a bit bubbly and a little bitter. The secret to a great Paloma is something we have in abundance here in Indian River County, fresh grapefruit. It is an easy drink to make and delicious any time of the year.
La Paloma
3 ounces freshly squeezed white grapefruit juice
2 ounces Blanco or silver tequila
½ ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
½ ounce agave nectar
Sea salt to rim the glass
Club soda
1 lime wheel for garnish
Fill cocktail shaker two-thirds full with ice. Add grapefruit juice, tequila, lime juice and agave nectar. Shake well and strain into an ice-filled tall glass rimmed with sea salt. Top with a splash of club soda, and garnish with lime wheel.
If you simply cannot bring yourself to gather all the ingredients required for La Paloma, try the simpler version, the Frescquila, Fresca, and Tequila…enjoy!
